KANGELA – widely used in Southern and East Africa meaning: “look at you with curious eyes!”
Who Am I?
I’m Chris, video creator, writer, photographer, outdoor lover and overlanding & road trip fan. After many years in the digital marketing space, I decided that corporate life wasn’t for me, sold my business and went freelance, exploring my world and sharing the adventures in words, video and photos. And, I haven’t regretted it for a single minute.
Born in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia back then), after a spell working as a surveyor on the gold mines of the Witwatersrand, I moved to Cape Town in the 80’s where I met my beautiful Cape Town born wife Birgit, and started a family. In 1999 life steered in the direction of digital marketing. I started a company, Synergize Digital, that grew into one of the most respected agencies in the country with a staff of 50 and a global client base, winning several awards for our work. After selling the business in 2013, I adopted a remote working lifestyle, giving me the privilege of being able work on the go while doing what I love most pretty much full time.
The Kangela blog is aimed at those who want to experience all the wonderful aspects of road tripping adventures, but who don’t care as much about how they get there, as they do about the journey itself and the destination. I’ll show that you don’t HAVE TO have all the latest accessories bolted to your expensive 4×4 in order to experience adventure in the great outdoors.
