We visited Ndhula Luxury Tented Lodge, outside the small but artistic town of White River in Mpumalanga, South Africa and spent the time in one of their unique luxury tents. Ndhula, which means giraffe in the local language is located on the 765 hectare Likweti Wildlife Estate.

It’s a short drive to the Kruger National Park, so is an ideal base for day trips into the park, which is 45 minutes away. That’s to Numbi Gate, Phabini Gate is a little bit further but still easily accessible. The property is also a short hop to the scenic wonders of the Panorama Route, and some natural treasures like the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and other beautiful spots.

The nearby airport has direct flights to Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, also Vilanculos in Mozambique, Livingstone in Zambia and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. In the near future, it’s planned to have direct flights to and from Germany (via Windhoek in Namibia), so it will be possible to fly straight into the Kruger Park, bypassing Johannesburg or Cape Town completely.

The lodge is perched on a hill overlooking the Mpumalanga lowveld with its vast plantations of macadamia nuts. There’s a restaurant, viewing deck and a swimming pool area and there’s free wi-fi in the main lodge area.

There are 26 luxury safari tents, and the lodge itself has a restaurant, viewing deck and swimming pool area. Free roaming wildlife like giraffe, nyala, zebra and other animals are abundant. It’s also a bird lovers paradise and for the energetic there’s a wide choice of walks, mountain biking trails and 4×4 routes.

It’s so worth visiting if you can, and the specials for locals make it actually quite affordable, even on a South African Rand budget.

Hello Teboho, this is not the website of the lodge, your best bet will be to contact them directly and ask them for their rates. There is a link to their website in the post.
