This incredible little piece of paradise is one that I absolutely have to share with my friends. It’s a very secure apartment, located literally 2 minutes away from the awesome Garden Route village of Wilderness, overlooking the Touw River lagoon where it enters the ocean. Located maybe 5 minutes walk from the beach, the apartment is totally luxurious and kitted out with all with high end fittings.
Set in a grove of ancient Milkwood trees, it’s on the ground floor and has been decorated in a modern beach cottage style with 3 large bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The apartment, which is self catering, has a gourmet kitchen which boasts Bosch appliances – washing machine, dryer and dish washer, a gas cooker, eye level oven and luxurious marble counter top. The Apartment
There are 3 large bedrooms, 2 with Queen size beds and 1 with 2 singles (which can be put together if needed), all fitted with luxurious Egyptian cotton linen. The master bedroom leads out onto a covered wooden deck, overlooking the Wilderness Lagoon. The apartment is not directly on the beach, but it’s very close, a quick 5 minute walk away.
There is an en-suite bathroom with high pressure rain head shower in the main bedroom while the main bathroom has a shower and free standing bath. Both are finished to the very highest standards of workmanship and quality fittings.
The apartment is equipped with free, wireless broadband internet and there is a large, high definition television in the living area with the full Dstv (satellite). Wilderness – Jewel Of The Garden Route
Wilderness, which lies between George and Knysna, is a unique holiday spot in then centre of South Africa’s Garden Route, with a golden beach that stretches for miles, extensive waterways and surrounded by lush indigenous forest. The village is a nature lover’s paradise with a small village feel and is an ideal spot from which to explore the Garden Route.
On a Friday evening you can join in the revelry at the local village market where you will meet and have fun with locals and travellers alike. There are a number of craftsmen and women in the area whose work is often for sale, all of it adding to the rustic charm of this very special village.
There are several good restaurants in the village, our favourites were Cocomo, which is great for an evening out, they serve great pizzas, have “happy hour” with some excellent cocktails on offer (2 for the price of 1) and live entertainment most nights. Flava Cafe down the road is a great lunch time spot, with quality bistro style food, they also have an upstairs deck where you can watch life go by from your vantage point. Lastly, but by no means least, Pomodoro has a really good breakfast and perhaps the best coffee in town.
George Airport, with numerous daily flights to all major centres in South Africa is a 20 minute drive away.
